My Go To No Makeup, Makeup Look

With being a busy mom of 3, a lot of times I don’t have enough time to sit down and do a dramatic look or a full on glammed our face but I still want to look put together and awake even when I’m not, lol. I’ve been loving the more neutral no makeup, makeup looks. It’s fast and easy but also gives my facial features a chance to stand out a bit on their own. My skin is still smooth and flawless but it looks natural without a lot of products used. I don’t use eyeshadow or liner, I only use false lashes when I really want my eyes to pop and I use a nude tone lipstick most of the time for this look as well. It’s perfect for looking put together for work, errands and even quick drinks with friends or a laid back date night.

I will however use highlight. I love a good highlight. Makes your skin glow without much effort and I think it looks beautiful. Your skin looks so healthy with a nice glow to it. Obviously you don’t need to beam peoples eyes out with a no makeup makeup look but sometimes I just wanna a little extra shine (in a good way, not an oily face lol.)

On my face:

Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation

Maybelline loose powder in medium deep under the eyes and deep on the rest of my face

Nyx bronzer in

Tarte blush in feisty

La colors highlight palette

Loreal liquid lip

Nyx brow gel in espresso and European Wax Center brow powder duo in medium

Below I listed some of my favorite products to use when I’m doing a more neutral look. I usually don’t use eye shadows or anything extra like that. I try and keep it as basic and simple as possible but still get the ultimate put together look. I get compliments all the time as well like oh you look so good, your skin looks great, you seem so energized today, etc. and I’m like oh thank you while also thinking girl I’m on my third cup of coffee and my 3 yr old changed her outfit 4 times before we could leave the house. 😂😂

Anyway, what are your favorite ways to get ready quick? Do you have any get glam quick tips that you live by?

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday. ❤️

DIY Crate Entertainment Center

Hi loves, so I’m back again with my second home diy project of the series. Next up in this series we built and entertainment center. I briefly mentioned it in my last diy crate foyer table post. For this diy the materials and directions are pretty much the same only for a larger scale project. This was fun because we tried different patterns before we decided on a specific design. We had been looking for an entertainment center that we both loved the design of and that fit the measurements for underneath our tv without having to move or rehang things on the wall. This only took us about a day with the majority of time being waiting for it to fully dry. So if you’re ready to get started keep reading below.

Materials needed:

(10) 18”x12 1/2”x9 1/2” crates $11 each at Home Depot

5/8” brad staples $4.24 at Walmart

Staple gun (already had)

Wood Stain (I choose Kona a dark brown black)

Wood Glue (already had)

2” clamp (already had)

Measuring tape (already had)

Sprayer $10 at Home Depot

Stain rags $5

L brackets about $4

To begin:

Put the crates together to see how you want them organized and put together. It’s good to take a picture if you aren’t following a guide for your design so you don’t forget exactly how you put it together. (As discussed in the last post where we forgot how we first had it, lol.) This time we mocked up a few different ways before we came up with the actual design we liked.

Once your mock up is done, start from the bottom and work your way to the top gluing all the sides together. Like a puzzle basically. For this one the design that we picked it was easier to glue and staple all the four side crates together first and then glue and staple the center pieces last since they connect together in the middle to float. Use the clamp to hold a section in place once you’ve glued it while you staple it down. Continue until all parts are glued and stapled together. Make sure you’re checking to see if all front sides of the crates sit flush before letting glue set or starting to staple everything down. We also decided the 2 floating crates in the middle we would add a board inside them to make 2 shelves for more storage. (Those were stained, glued and stapled in after the whole center was put together and added in later.)

Once the glue has dried or mostly dried (about 30 mins) then you can carefully move it outside or in the garage to start staining. There are a few different ways you can lay the stain. We choose both a brush and spray method again because it was quicker in the last diy as well. The sprayer mainly helped cover a lot of the table and then we brushed it out everywhere on the wood and then wiped it down with the rags. We let it dry over night even though the stain usually dries in about an hour or so depending on how many coats you apply.

Once stain has set and dried you can now place your entertainment center where you want. Now you can put up your gaming systems, movies and etc. We also secured ours to the wall with an L bracket so if anyone bumped it or our 3 yr old went to grab something it didn’t go tumbling over, lol.

Completed Entertainment Center measurements:

49 3/4″ H 48 1/2″ W 9 1/2″ D

I hope you enjoyed this DIY. This one took a little longer mainly waiting for it to dry and because we decided to add shelves but still fun and creative none the less. Don’t forget to follow my Snapchat @lolanicolemua for sneak peeks of other diy projects and tag me on Twitter or Instagram @lolanicoleblogs if you try this DIY as well. I’d love to see how you made this your own if you decide to try it. I Hope you’re loving this series as much as we are and have an amazing day!

DIY Crate Foyer Table

Hi Loves, I’m so excited to be starting this series with this first DIY project.

So I was looking around for a foyer table for weeks and I found a few cute ones I liked but they were either way more than I wanted to pay or sold out. So I decided to diy one. My husband got the idea to use crates after we were also looking for an entertainment center which we also did a diy on (I’ll have a blog up with that one as well) and I said what about palettes and we started looking up some different ideas and he came across a foyer table made out of wooden crates. So instead of searching around for palettes we decided on the crates and headed off to Home Depot to begin our projects. Below I will list items needed and photos of our step by step.

Items needed:

6 18”x12 1/2”x9 1/2” crates $11 each at Home Depot

1×12 board cut down to 56” for table top $15 at Home Depot

Legs (1 2×2 wooden stick .97 at Home Depot cut into 4 8” cuts)

5/8” brad staples $4.24 at Walmart

Staple gun (already had)

Wood Stain (I choose Kona semi-gloss a dark brown black)

Wood Glue (already had)

2” clamp (already had)

Measuring tape (already had)

Sprayer $10 at Home Depot

Stain rags $5

To begin:

Put the crates together to see how you want them organized and put together. It’s good to take a picture if you aren’t following a guide for your design so you don’t forget exactly how you put it together. (Like we did the first time, thank goodness nothing was glued yet, lolol.)

Once your mock up is done, start from the bottom and work your way to the top gluing all the sides together. Use the clamp to hold a section in place once you’ve glued it while you staple it down. Continue until all parts are glued and stapled together. Then glue and staple on the table top. Make sure both sides are equal in their overlap on the ends and the back of the board is flush with the back of the crates. There will be a bit of hang over in the front as well for a ledge.

Once the glue has dried or mostly dried (about 30 mins) then you can carefully move it outside or in the garage to start staining. There are a few different ways you can lay the stain. We choose both a brush and spray method. The sprayer mainly helped cover a lot of the table and then we brushed it out everywhere on the wood and then wiped it down with the rags. We let it dry over night even though the stain usually dries in about an hour or so depending on how many coats you apply.

Once stain has set and dried you can now apply your legs. Make sure all the legs are level and not crooked so you get a more even balance and no rocking. We glued the legs on and then used a drill and screws to screw in the legs on and secure them. Let glue dry and then you’re done. You can officially place the table where you want it and decorate as you wish.

Completed foyer measurements:

39 1/8″ H 56 1/8″ W 11 3/8″ D

I hope you enjoyed this DIY. It was actually pretty quick for the most part and it was certainly fun. The hubs and I really enjoyed it and it’s a great way to spend time together and catch up as well. Follow me on Snapchat @lolanicolemua for more fun diy sneak peeks and tag me on Twitter or Instagram @lolanicoleblogs if you try this DIY. I’d love to see how you made this your own if you decide to try it. I Hope you loves have an amazing day!

My Current Skincare Routine

Hi loves! So I've been exploring some new face oils, masks and cleansers. These are the ones that I have been loving the most so far. I rotate some of them for morning and night but I use my face oils both day and night for moisture and it also helps with my foundation as well because I notice I am less oily throughout the day when my face is more hydrated and moisturized. My skin is combination/oily with lots of oiliness in the t-zone area so don't be afraid to use oils on the skin because you're oily. It just lets your skin know that it doesn't need to produce as much because you're already moisturized.

My Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Regenerating Cream Cleanser (mouth full, lol) face wash is what I use once or twice a week. Mainly when I don't wear makeup that day. Because I feel I get a nice deep exfoliating clean and it helps keep my skin clear of debris and the daily sun and weather exposure. It has a nice fresh scent which is still not chemically strong which I love. It's an exfoliating face wash but gentle on the skin and doesn't leave my face feeling raw or itchy just clean and refreshed.

These new L'Oréal face washes and masks have been amazing. I'm going to get the rest of them because I want to try them all out now. The two I've been using about 2 to 3 times a week are the charcoal and mattifying masks. You can feel the mattifying mask tightening on your skin as it dries. Really working to minimize those pores and mattify the skin. The charcoal mask works to brighten and detox the skin so it is a little less restricting as it dries. I love the pure clay cleanser. It's an exfoliating and refining mask. I have the 3 pure clay and red algae mask and I love it. It's not too rough on the skin so I am able to use it every day. I love the fact that these masks and cleansers have an earthy smell to them. That way it feels like you're actually cleansing and doing your skin some good rather than just rubbing chemicals into it.

I use Vanity Planet Spin for Perfect Skin brush with both face cleansers but sometimes I will just use my hands if I don't want too deep of a cleanse so to not irritate my skin when I've just waxed it or done another deep treatment. But I've been using this brush for almost 2 years now and I love it. I even bought my daughter one. It has a body brush for body exfoliation, a face brush, an exfoliating face brush and a pumice brush for more rough areas like elbows, knees and feet. It's an amazing brush that is so much more affordable than some other face brushes that can run you well into the $100-$400 range. I believe I had a coupon and only paid $20 plus shipping for mine. 🤗

My face exfoliating gel from European Wax Center is another favorite. I like to use this twice a week especially when I've been wearing a full face of makeup multiple times during the week. I just wash my face, dab it dry and then apply the gel and rub my hands in circular motions until I feel all the dead skin start to come off. Once I've done my whole face I go over it lightly with my spin for Perfect skin brush and rinse. My skin feels so smooth and clean after and I notice my makeup application is a lot smoother as well. It also has a nice scent which by now you should know I don't like over powering chemical smells. Especially if it's supposed to be a facial cleanser or mask for my face.

Once I'm done cleansing my face and I've done my mask, I will apply my facial moisturizers and oils. During the day I apply a light application of everything so it has time to soak into the skin and then I can apply my makeup and at night I like to use a more healthy application of product so my skin is relaxed and hydrated during the night. I first apply the Puretem moisturizer and then some of the Caudalie moisturizing sorbet. I use about 4 drops of Julep Rose Hip oil that I received in my voxbox and then I apply Vitamin E oil on top. I've noticed that my skin is much softer and more radiant now rather than waking up with a dull, dry appearance to the skin.

I apply pure castor oil to my eyebrows and lashes at night to help with growth. I've been using this for about 3 months and I've noticed some change in my brow and lash growth it's just a slow process with this method.

Towel pictured is Aquis Hair Towel (influenster sent it to me in a posh voxbox for testing purposes and I love it)

Overall I definitely recommend trying these products. They have all worked together to make my skin look more radiant and fresh. I haven't had any breakouts either since switching to this face routine. Check out these new face goodies. The L'Oréal, Olay, vitamin E and Castor oil I purchased all of those from Walmart. I hope if you try them you love them just as much as I do.

Products mentioned:

L'Oréal Pure Clay Cleanser $6
L'Oréal Pure Clay Masks $10 each
Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Regenerating Cream Cleanser $10
Vanity Planet Spin for Perfect Skin brush $20
European Wax Center face exfoliating gel $20
Julep Boost Your Radiance Reparitive Rose Hip Seed Oil (sent for testing purposes) $36 (currently out of stock on their site)
Ipsy bag moisturizers:
Puretem Purevera Emulsion $24 for full size
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet $39 for full size
Vitamin E oil $5
Castor oil $4

A Fun Little Print

I love a little. Sometimes I love a lot of prints, lol. But this cute little jacket was adorable to me and perfect to throw on over a sweater for a not too hot, not too cold day. I paired my off white 3/4 length cowl neck sweater with this little jacket, jeans and my rain boots and I was ready for the day. It was rainy all day here in Florida so rain boots were a must. This jacket has a nice material and it’s thick enough to go over a sweater and keep you warm on a kinda of chilly day.

The sleeves for me are a little above my wrists, which I’m 5’9″ and have very long lims so for some this may be long sleeves but for me, almost but not quite, lol. But I figured that when I purchased it which is why it’s a cute little not too hot, not too cold day sweater. The zipper detailing is gold and the sweater is slightly off white with black pattern all over. Over all a great little jacket to throw on and spice up a plain sweater and pair of jeans. I would probably dry clean this jacket. Though it has cotton in it, I feel the material would mess up after washing and drying more than once.

New Old School

I love a cute skirt just as much as the next girl. I also love a cute varsity jacket. So what better way to love both at the same time then to wear them at the same time. I love the new school, old school edge this outfit has with the varsity jacket and pleated skirt and the jean jacket and combat boots add a new edge to it that I love.

I love layering so this was a cute and fun way to incorporate that style into my outfit. What’s your favorite winter/spring trend?
I hope you’re having an awesome Tuesday.

Breastfeeding Shame

image1-2

Ok so you know how in the magazines they have the beautiful pictures of the mother calmly and lovingly looking down at their baby while breastfeeding? They have a smile on thier face and they seem to be effortlessly feeding and bonding with the infant. Well let me just say that if breastfeeding was that easy everyone would do it.

But it’s not. It’s hard. It gets easier and yes it’s natural and your body knows what to do but it’s not just something you wake up and know what to do. Even if you’ve had more than one child it can be harder with one child then it was with the other. I have friends who say they couldn’t breastfeed at all, while some say it was easy and others say they dried up within a short few months despite breastfeeding exclusively the whole time. The issue I have with some is that they try and shame other women or make them feel bad for not being able to breastfeed of having to supplement with formula. As women and mothers we should applaud and encourage each other every step of the way. Motherhood is hard and not having support is harder.

FullSizeRender-2

Let me be the first to say I was one who thought well since it was easy the last time it will totally be easy this time. But um no honey I was wrong lol. With all 3 of my kids breastfeeding was different. My oldest daughter I could only breastfeed for 2 months, my son I breastfed and pumped exclusively with no issues what so ever for 8 months and with my youngest daughter it’s been a challenge every step of the way. I also feel like I had such a successful time breastfeeding with my son because I had so much help and the hospital I had him in was amazing. Whereas it seems I tend to have my daughters in hospitals that aren’t as helpful or attentive at all.

Breastfeeding for me has been rough the first 2 weeks being the worst. There was crying on many occasions from me. Sometimes while feeding her. I was extremely engorged for the first week and a half so much so that even pumping was excruciating and then by the time I worked through the pain and frustration of that my nipples were so sore and battered that it was still very sensitive and somewhat painful a time when breastfeeding.

FullSizeRender

Now 5 weeks later it’s so much better. The pain is gone for the most part and at times it’s just uncomfortable rather than painful. Pumping has been a challenge and since I’m going back to finish up my cosmetology license I have to pump for someone to feed her whole I’m gone. So I have had to supplement breast milk and formula but she’s transitioned well. I now breast and bottle feed her and she does well with both. When I am with her I rarely bottle feed so we still have that bonding time and so my milk supply stays consistent and continues to come in and when I’m gone I pump for her bottles.

I beat myself up for weeks and even cried because I had to supplement. Because some people and even a doctor told me not to. They made it seem as though I was feeding my child rat poisoning or something. I felt so bad and was made to believe she wouldn’t breastfeed or take my breast anymore because I was bottle feeding and because I was supplementing. Luckily I worked through that and she has proved that she will be fine and takes both breast and bottle very well.

IMG_4947

Exclusively breastfeeding and not bottle or supplementing is great for a stay at home mom that doesn’t work or go to school and never goes anywhere without baby. But for moms who work, have school, run businesses, etc. sometimes you need to supplement or bottle feed. It’s life and baby won’t hate you for it or grow up not feeling loved as long as your loving on them and raising them right it will be fine. Your child won’t grow up to be a cereal killer because you didn’t exclusively breastfeed though that’s how some make it out to be lol. We should empower and encourage one another to do what we can as mothers. There is no wrong way to parent as long as the child grows up happy and healthy in my book. So this has been my breastfeeding journey so far.

How was your breastfeeding journey? Was it smooth sailing or did you have issues? Talk to you soon dolls.

What’s in Lilli’s Diaper Bag (Newborn)

So it’s been a few years since I’ve had to pack an actual diaper bag.  It’s odd that even when you have more than one child it always feels a bit like the first time when you have to pack a diaper bag again lol. Preparing Lilli’s diaper bag made me realize just how much a newborn needs even for a trip to the store, lol. Here’s what I packed while trying to keep from packing her whole room, lmao.

The diaper bag I choose for Lilli is the Hello Kitty diaper bag from Walmart.

image

image

Get It Here

What’s in Lilliana’s Diaper Bag:
photo 2

photo 3

2 Burp cloths
Swaddle blanket
Nursing cover
2 onesies
2 bibs
Going home outfit (hospital)
6 Diapers
Wipes
2 Bottles
2 Pacifiers
Headbands, socks, hand mittens
Travel First Aid Kit
Mommy hook
Changing pad (most bags come with one)
Grooming kit
Thermometer
Nose suction
Breasts pads, period pads (for myself for emergencies)

The zipper pouches you can get in the makeup or travel section of Walmart or Target. I find sorting things out in the pouches helps with mess and digging all through the bag looking for things.

I pretty much packed her diaper bag for when we actually go somewhere just because I know the hospital will provide everything we need while we are there. So this is really what I will be taking on a daily basis or when we go out.

I hope this is helpful for anyone who was confused on what to bring and it’s been so long, If I’ve left anything out please feel free to let me know, lol. What are you carrying in your baby’s diaper bag?
