How To: Style Leggings for Fall

Leggings are great. They can be worn year round, they come in many different styles, patterns and fabrics now. So if you have that favorite comfortable pair of leggings but you don’t want to look like you’ve just grabbed them off the floor from the night before and ran out the door to drop the kids off to school. (yes I’m speaking from experience. No shame in my mom game, lol.) Then this post should help give you a few styled ideas to take your leggings from casual to dressed up in no time.

I wanted to style some basic leggings 3 ways since Fall is in full effect. Sweaters are all the rage and are the perfect option to put on when there’s a chill in the air. You can layer them over a top or find a sweater that’s great to throw on alone. Add some cute mules or boots, a few accessories and you’re good to go.

I’ve linked some cute sweater and legging options for every budget so that you can get to styling those leggings and show the world your style.

Plaid Patchwork Top

PLAID PATCHWORK TOP
TALL POWERSTRETCH ST. CLAIR FLARE JEANS

Long Sleeve Shirt Plaid Affair

First of all I love Fall! With this top I get all the fall feels, especially in anything plaid. There is nothing I love more and I try and wear it year round honestly, lol. It’s one of my favorite prints. Thank goodness plaid is still a trend this fall too!

So when I got this adorable grey plaid patchwork top in the mail from Blooming Jelly, I couldn’t wait to shoot in it. It’s not too thick and not too thin. It can be worn with or without a jacket and has the perfect thickness for layering with a jacket or cardigan. If you aren’t sold on it yet then the UNDER $20 price tag should do the trick! ;0)

My jeans are from Alloy Apparel and are the best. Most noteworthy is that they fit so well and best of all they come in tall length too. I’m wearing a size 7 and the 37” inseam length. They are also low rise and the denim isn’t restricting and has a good amount of stretch to them. So I definitely recommend grabbing a pair because they’re under $70 and so good.

FIT TIPS:
-Jeans are TTS but have a little stretch if you get a size that’s a size smaller. I’m wearing a size 7 and 37” inseam.
-Top runs TTS. I’m wearing a size Large for a more loose and oversized fit.

Sizing Reference:
I’m 5’8″. Typically wear 9-9.5 in shoes and a size 10 if they run small. M/L in tops and dresses. 6-8 in Jeans depending on make and brand.

So what are your favorite prints of the season? What print do you go for most while shopping? I’m also loving leopard and camo print. Let me know in the comments below.

I Love Being in my #UnderWhere

I love comfort. Anyone who knows me knows I like to dress up but what I love even more is dressing down, lol. Find me a comfortable pair of cute sweats or joggers and I’m all set. I also don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to find a cute and equally comfortable set. Which is why I will run straight to Walmart and go for the Fruit of the Loom sets. I love their zip up jackets and drawstring waist joggers. They’re in the mens section which I also love because I like for my jogger sets to fit a little loose rather than clinging to my body. The best part is they’re so affordable. You really can’t go wrong with these sets. Especially if you’ve been eyeing those cute sets in the mall for double and triple the price.

These sets are under $25 for the jacket and joggers together, they’re a great material as well. Thick enough to keep you warm and cozy but thin enough when the weather is a little warmer than expected. Walmart has really been stepping up their clothing game and these jogger sets are no exception. Run and grab some sets while you can, they come in over 4 colors but they sell out quick.

O U T F I T – D E T A I L S:
Fruit of the Loom Men’s Dual Defense EverSoft Fleece Full Zip Hooded Sweatshirt
Fruit of the Loom Men’s Dual Defense EverSoft Jogger Sweatpants
Women’s Any Day V-Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt – A New Day™

FIT TIPS:
-Sneakers can run a bit small. I’m wearing a 9 but I would have sized up to a 9.5 or 10.
-Jogger Sets run TTS. I’m wearing a size Small in the joggers and zip up hoodie.

I hope this post was helpful in finding you a cute and affordable jogger set that won’t break the bank but you still look super cute like you just left the mall. If you download the 21 Buttons app and then find me @lolanicoleblogs I posted this suit with a direct shop link and then I tagged a few other options as well.

DIY Crate Foyer Table

Hi Loves, I’m so excited to be starting this series with this first DIY project.

So I was looking around for a foyer table for weeks and I found a few cute ones I liked but they were either way more than I wanted to pay or sold out. So I decided to diy one. My husband got the idea to use crates after we were also looking for an entertainment center which we also did a diy on (I’ll have a blog up with that one as well) and I said what about palettes and we started looking up some different ideas and he came across a foyer table made out of wooden crates. So instead of searching around for palettes we decided on the crates and headed off to Home Depot to begin our projects. Below I will list items needed and photos of our step by step.

Items needed:

6 18”x12 1/2”x9 1/2” crates $11 each at Home Depot

1×12 board cut down to 56” for table top $15 at Home Depot

Legs (1 2×2 wooden stick .97 at Home Depot cut into 4 8” cuts)

5/8” brad staples $4.24 at Walmart

Staple gun (already had)

Wood Stain (I choose Kona semi-gloss a dark brown black)

Wood Glue (already had)

2” clamp (already had)

Measuring tape (already had)

Sprayer $10 at Home Depot

Stain rags $5

To begin:

Put the crates together to see how you want them organized and put together. It’s good to take a picture if you aren’t following a guide for your design so you don’t forget exactly how you put it together. (Like we did the first time, thank goodness nothing was glued yet, lolol.)

Once your mock up is done, start from the bottom and work your way to the top gluing all the sides together. Use the clamp to hold a section in place once you’ve glued it while you staple it down. Continue until all parts are glued and stapled together. Then glue and staple on the table top. Make sure both sides are equal in their overlap on the ends and the back of the board is flush with the back of the crates. There will be a bit of hang over in the front as well for a ledge.

Once the glue has dried or mostly dried (about 30 mins) then you can carefully move it outside or in the garage to start staining. There are a few different ways you can lay the stain. We choose both a brush and spray method. The sprayer mainly helped cover a lot of the table and then we brushed it out everywhere on the wood and then wiped it down with the rags. We let it dry over night even though the stain usually dries in about an hour or so depending on how many coats you apply.

Once stain has set and dried you can now apply your legs. Make sure all the legs are level and not crooked so you get a more even balance and no rocking. We glued the legs on and then used a drill and screws to screw in the legs on and secure them. Let glue dry and then you’re done. You can officially place the table where you want it and decorate as you wish.

Completed foyer measurements:

39 1/8″ H 56 1/8″ W 11 3/8″ D

I hope you enjoyed this DIY. It was actually pretty quick for the most part and it was certainly fun. The hubs and I really enjoyed it and it’s a great way to spend time together and catch up as well. Follow me on Snapchat @lolanicolemua for more fun diy sneak peeks and tag me on Twitter or Instagram @lolanicoleblogs if you try this DIY. I’d love to see how you made this your own if you decide to try it. I Hope you loves have an amazing day!

Thrifty Thursdays

image

Hello Dolls. Ok so I know today isn’t Thursday but this outfit was from Thursday so it sort of counts , lol. So anyone who knows me, knows I love thrifting. The excitement you get when you find a bargain or that perfect one of a kind piece. Especially for DIY projects (which I love by the way).

image

So I happened upon this skirt the other day and thought it was so cute. I grabbed it not even knowing what I would pair it with lol.

image

I mixed prints and materials a little on this one and loved the outcome. Some stripes and a little jean. It came out pretty cute. I will definitely post some DIY and more of my thrift finds.

Stripes and Combat Boots

I found this dress accidentally. (Well not really because I was out shopping, lol) but it wasn’t what I was shopping for. I stumbled into a store I haven’t been in for a long time called Styles and just browsed around.

I’m a huge bargain shopper so when I saw the sale rack I went straight to it. On it was this cute asymmetrical dress for only $5 and I thought well I’ll take it lol.

My boots I’ve had for a little while and decided to wear them and edge up the outfit a bit.

Lilac Dreams

20130920-153706.jpg

I love this color and with fall here it’s time to transition into darker colors. But in Florida it’s hard to tell when the seasons change because we have the same weather all the time it seems. Rainy, hot or all the above lol. So I decided to put this color on my nails because the weather seemed to permit it lol.

Verity Polish in Lilac Cream

20130920-153746.jpg

This polish goes on smooth and is true to the color in the bottle. I have no base coat, 2 coats of polish and 1 coat of top coat on my nails.

I have really only seen this polish in nail salons but you can find them online or eBay as well and possibly in beauty supply stores.

Well I hope you beauties are having an awesome Friday.
