My Go To No Makeup, Makeup Look

With being a busy mom of 3, a lot of times I don’t have enough time to sit down and do a dramatic look or a full on glammed our face but I still want to look put together and awake even when I’m not, lol. I’ve been loving the more neutral no makeup, makeup looks. It’s fast and easy but also gives my facial features a chance to stand out a bit on their own. My skin is still smooth and flawless but it looks natural without a lot of products used. I don’t use eyeshadow or liner, I only use false lashes when I really want my eyes to pop and I use a nude tone lipstick most of the time for this look as well. It’s perfect for looking put together for work, errands and even quick drinks with friends or a laid back date night.

I will however use highlight. I love a good highlight. Makes your skin glow without much effort and I think it looks beautiful. Your skin looks so healthy with a nice glow to it. Obviously you don’t need to beam peoples eyes out with a no makeup makeup look but sometimes I just wanna a little extra shine (in a good way, not an oily face lol.)

On my face:

Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation

Maybelline loose powder in medium deep under the eyes and deep on the rest of my face

Nyx bronzer in

Tarte blush in feisty

La colors highlight palette

Loreal liquid lip

Nyx brow gel in espresso and European Wax Center brow powder duo in medium

Below I listed some of my favorite products to use when I’m doing a more neutral look. I usually don’t use eye shadows or anything extra like that. I try and keep it as basic and simple as possible but still get the ultimate put together look. I get compliments all the time as well like oh you look so good, your skin looks great, you seem so energized today, etc. and I’m like oh thank you while also thinking girl I’m on my third cup of coffee and my 3 yr old changed her outfit 4 times before we could leave the house. 😂😂

Anyway, what are your favorite ways to get ready quick? Do you have any get glam quick tips that you live by?

Col•lab Makeup line review

So I came across this makeup line at Sally’s the other day and decided to grab a few things to try while they were having a bogo sale. I love trying new affordable products because if they work well then I’ve found new staple products to reach for in my makeup routine. I purchased the skin tint, matte foundation and radiant foundation to give those a try as well as the loose powder, pressed powder, a blush, the smoothing primer, micellar water, concealer and a color corrector.

Something I first noticed is that this line is not very shade inclusive. There’s only 6 shades in the skin tint and 10 shades in the foundations so the most porcelain skin and the darker skin tones are left out completely. I’m the eighth darkest shade (caramel) in the foundation and the fifth shade in the skin tint. So a lot of skin tones are left out. Both the foundation and skin tint are $14.99 each.

The packaging is nice. Sleek black and greys. The jars are glass. Clean fonts and the foundations come with a pump and the skin tints are in a squeeze tube. The concealer has a doe foot applicator and the color corrector comes in a jar. So it makes application for those easy and you save product. I wanted to try the line together because sometimes products work better with their own.

The skin tint

First up I tried the smoothing primer, skin tint, concealer, blush and pressed powder together. I didn’t use anything else aside from my tarts blush in feisty and my wet n wild highlighting gold bar and I set my face with my Morphe Continuous setting mist. The primer went on like a lotion for the most part. It felt kind of moisturizing for a minute. The skin tint was actually thicker than I thought it would be for it to have been a tint but it gave pretty good coverage. The concealer didn’t have as much coverage as I thought it would so it’s not something I would reach for on a daily basis. The pressed powder was ok. It seemed to set the face for the most part. The blush showed up on me more like a highlight than a blush which is why I added my tarte blush to it. I didn’t contour because I wanted a quick face. I noticed it quickly set into any fine lines I had even after setting with powder. I wore it for a full day of errands, etc. within about an hour I was oily so I was already not too happy with that. I blotted my face and went on with the day. About another hour or so I was oily again. A few hours after that I noticed the skin tint had oxidized. So about 5 hours into wearing it, it had oxidized terribly and had a grayish tint now and I was still oily. I couldn’t wait to get home and take it off. My face felt dirty and itchy and I didn’t like the ashy tint it developed.

The matte foundation

The next day I tried a different combo. I used the primer, matte foundation, color corrector, concealer and loose powder. I used my airspun for under my eyes and my tarte blush again, my wet n wild rainbow highlight and contoured with my nyx bronzer. I set my face with my Morphe continuous setting mist. This time the foundation didn’t oxidize as much as the skin tint did but I was oily within an hour. For a matte foundation I expected more oil control than what I got. The foundation never set on my face once applied at all. It never set to a matte finish it was dewy. It only set once I applied powder. I had to blot my face multiple times throughout an 8 hr wear which I don’t have to do until end of day with most of my matte foundations. So I wasn’t impressed with the matte foundation at all.

The radiant foundation

I didn’t try the radiant foundation alone. I figured since the matte foundation by itself was a bust then I wasn’t even going to attempt it. I instead mixed the radiant foundation with my too faced born this way foundation and did my makeup with the different products that I use on the daily. I wore this combo for about 8 hrs or so and when I got home from work my face was oily but not as bad as it was with the matte foundation by itself. It still settled into some of my lines fairly quickly but it wasn’t as terribly noticeable as the skin tint or the matte foundation. So I will say that mixed with another foundation that already works for my skin this foundation is a bit better but it’s still not something I would reach for on the daily. Especially since I have to mix it with another foundation just to get it to set decently on my face for the day. I may try mixing the matte foundation as well to see how I like that and if it will set better on my face but idk yet.

The powders and Blush

The powder both pressed and loose didn’t really do well to keep my makeup set and help keep oiliness down. It goes on fine but the lasting power just isn’t there. The blush I wasn’t too happy with, it was way too shimmery and seemed to be more of a highlight rather than an actual blush unless you’re more fair skinned even though I got one of the darker shades.

The Smoothing Primer

The primer to me didn’t really do anything nor did it blur any imperfections, it just goes on your face like a lotion and then sets but doesn’t keep your pores, imperfections or oiliness at bay for too long. I feel it may possibly work better on someone with dry to normal skin but for oily skin or combination skin it just wasn’t the best.

The undereye concealer

The under eye concealer was one of the most disappointing for me. I got the darkest peach shade and it kind of just spread around on the face and didn’t really cover much. I used both a stippling brush and concealer brush and then I tried a beauty blender but nothing seems to smooth it out any better. I like my under eye concealer to work really well especially on days that I am sick or my under eyes are especially dark but this just missed the mark completely.

The micellar water

I never actually tried the micellar water so it may have worked fine with removing makeup but once I had tried pretty much all the products (except the radiant foundation) I had purchased and wasn’t happy with any of those I just decided to take everything back. It’s $9.99 but for that price I can just stick with my ganier micellar water for $7.

The final review

All in all I just feel like this line is kind of a starter line for younger people who are just starting out in makeup. Something to practice with or if they don’t really have any skin issues this line may work for them. I have more mature skin (I’m 32), I have naturally darker undereye circles and a few acne scars. I like a good full coverage foundation unless I’m using a BB cream for a quick face. I have combination/oily skin so a matte foundation is usually what I reach for. I took most of the line back with the exception of the 2 foundations because I couldn’t find the receipt and just replaced those with things I actually use and like. Hopefully in the future they do better with formulas and especially the shade ranges. A successful makeup line needs to be shade and skin inclusive to reach a broader audience.

Did you try any of the products in this line? What did you like? What didn’t you like? What do you feel the company can do better with in the future? Be sure to follow me on Snapchat @lolanicolemua for more makeup reviews and mini tutorial videos as well. I hope you beauties have a blessed day.

Hi loves. So I've been obsessed with highlighting lately. It's been the highlight (pun intended, lol) of my everyday makeup routine. Whether I'm just running errands, going to work or for a night out I always have some highlight. It just depends on how bright I wanna shine that day, lol. Loreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation Review

So I’ve worn this foundation for a few weeks now so I can give a good review on how it does throughout the day. I’ve worn it for literally 14 hrs straight during a work day once so I have a pretty good idea of how it does for me. Keep in mind I live in Florida so it can be really hot here during the summer which it is right now.

(Outdoor daytime lighting)

The verdict: I love it!
It’s a little more runny than the Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation and gives you a little more time to blend it on your face without setting as quickly. I’m a lover of matte foundation so I was skeptical that this would make my face feel or look too greasy. But it sets really well. I’ve worn it both with and without a primer and with and without setting spray. Without primer and a setting spray it still does exceptionally well in my opinion as far as it not running all over my face after awhile or looking really oily. Obviously a prime and set helps with the longevity of the stay power and how well it sits on the skin but it does really good all on its own.

(Indoor nighttime lighting)

You can use either a brush, fingers if that’s your thing or beauty blender application. I’ve tried both brush and beauty blender. I really like using my beauty blender to apply it. I feel like it just creates a flawless airbrush type finish.

Over all I’d give this a 4 out of 5 just because the shade range isn’t as wide as it should be but the performance of the foundation is really great and at a $12 price point for a drugstore foundation it’s really really great in comparison with some of my other higher end foundations and the price tag makes it even better. If you haven’t tried it out by now you totally should, it’s a really great everyday foundation and gives off a really nice glow.
What’s your favorite foundation? I hope you’re having a beautiful Monday Loves.

Review: Brush Egg

image-10

I have hopefully found something that will change my brush routine slightly for the better. Now before I found the brush egg I had heard that Sigma had a silicone brush cleaning glove that retails for $40. Well I went and did some research on it because for the price I expected it to be some extremely awesome product. To my surprise it was basically a silicone oven glove and I was not having any parts of paying for an over priced oven glove lol. So I continued to wash my brushes the way I had always been washing them, my prune fingers in tow, lol.

I heard about the Brush Egg both on Twitter and Instagram. But I first laid my eyes on one through an Instagram photo. I thought oh that is just so cute. I’ve been washing my makeup brushes by just rubbing them in circular motions over the soap and getting it clean that way. (I just recently posted a video on youtube and made a blog post showing how I cleaned my bushes, lol.) So I figured why not give this a try. I went to the website and to my surprise it was only $8 plus shipping. I ended up paying $10 even with shipping included.

Granted the brush egg does not cover your whole hand and its not a glove but honestly you don’t really need all that, its not that serious. You hold the brush egg and then slide it on 2 or 3 fingers whichever ones are more comfortable for you and then wash your brushes just like you would if you were rubbing the brush over soap or in your hand. Simple, easy and extremely affordable.

image.png-2
(Photo via @brushegg on Instagram)

Because sometimes you don’t need to spend an outrageous amount for something. Especially because half the time the only reason these things sell is because popular bloggers/vloggers tell you its a great deal just because of the brand or because it was sent to them for free. I don’t believe in that or wasting money just because someone says its a great buy and you should do it. (If they jumped off a bridge……) lol.

Well anyway thats all for this review. Don’t forget to head over to brushegg.bigcartel.com and grab you a brushegg today. I’m really loving this product and I think its so cute and compact and helps deep clean and thoroughly rinse my brushes. No extreme prune fingers or dry, white hands from soap residue. You really should give this a try because its a really affordable, great way to clean your brushes all while looking so cute on your fingers lol. I will eventually post another video and blog on my updated brush cleaning routine.

Until next time loves,

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

photo-51.jpg

So I have been cleaning my makeup brushes with Zote soap for about 8 months now and I love it. You can get Zote from the store in the laundry detergent isle because Zote has so many different uses. But I use it to clean my makeup brushes and it works wonders. It deep cleans and really helps my brushes stay nice. I have heard that if you add just a tad of oil like baby or olive oil or something to your brushes also it is suppose to make your brushes softer. But I haven’t tried that as of yet.

photo 4

photo 5

Zote is a large pink bar of soap that you can crush up or break apart to make a larger amount of soap. However for me I just cut a sliver off and that usually cleans all of my brushes. I have had the same bar of soap for the entire 8 months since I have started using it. The bar is only .97 at Walmart which is even better. I haven’t found anything that was as affordable and still cleaned my brushes as well as Zote has. I have tried other actually more expensive brush washing exclusive soaps, as well as Johnson and Johnson baby soap and none have done as well as Zote has for me. The others have just been a waste of money, lol.

photo 2

photo 1

To wash my brushes I take a brush and wet it throughly and then take a piece of soap and wet it in my other hand and rub the brush on the soap in a circular motion. I continue to do that until the suds turn white and the brush rinses clean. Then I rinse very well squeezing the bristles in my fingers to make sure all the soap is out of the brush. If you don’t rinse throughly it will leave a sticky residue on the brushes. Then I just repeat those steps until all the brushes are clean.

photo 1

photo 2

photo 3

photo 4

I washed a few of my most used brushes so that I could show how I washed them. I also have a video up on youtube so you can see exactly what I do. My routine is super easy but all brush washing takes forever as all of us makeup girls know, lol. It took about 20 minutes to deep clean all the brushes I washed here but I hadn’t washed them in forever. (Bad I know, *sad face*). But they always come out looking new and better than they did before I washed them.

So overall I am loving using Zote as my go to makeup brush cleaner. It has worked wonderfully and I don’t see any issues with my brushes or the bristles feeling weird or hard or anything like that. So you should defiantly give it a try and let me know what you think. Comment below if you have ever tried it out.

I hope you are having a beautiful Friday and that your ready for the weekend. I know I am, lol.

Review: AcneFree Advanced Cleansing Brush

image-9

I was looking for a cleansing brush that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I have seen the Clarisonic all over the place with the popular bloggers and all over youtube but I just was not trying to spend $200 for a face brush. That just seems crazy to me lol.

So I was in Target looking for some new face wash and something to help with the acne I started to develop once I got pregnant. I came across the AcneFree Advanced Cleansing Brush and happened to have a coupon as well as it being on sale so I only paid about $14 for it. I thought it would be a great alternative to the pricier brushes and would help me figure out if I even liked using a face brush.

So I went home and got online and started looking up the brush and seeing others reviews on it before I tried it out. To my surprise a lot of people were comparing it to the CLarisonic and the Olay cleansing brushes. Which was funny because I hadn’t heard of any other brush besides the Clarisonic (one of the most expensive ones) go figure lol.

photo 1

It’s actually the perfect size for everyday and travel because its the size of your hand and it will fit in a small travel bag. It’s great for carry on bags as well. I’m not sure what size the others are but I can’t imagine they would be that much bigger. At least I hope not, lmao.

image

photo 2

So I started using the brush and honestly you never really realize how dirty your face is until you have scrubbed it clean with a spinning brush lol. Before I started using the brush I was just using my Neutrogena Makeup Remover Face Wipes, my Clearasil Fast Fix Acne Kit and at least once a week a cleansing mask. But still my face was dirty even after all that. The brush really deep cleans your face and gets all the dirt and oil out of your pores.

All in all the brush has really helped my skin. Within 2 weeks my acne was really clearing up and my face was looking brighter and feeling a lot better and less heavy (if that makes sense, lol). You can see what your makeup wipes and just washing your face leaves behind when you use the brush and at first I thought I just didn’t wash my face well that night but no morning or night your face is dirty whether you wore makeup or not and even if you didn’t go out that day at all.

photo 4

photo 5

Over all I give this cleansing brush a 10/10 for me. It cleanses great and my skin has really gotten a lot better since using it for the last 3 months. You should definitely give it a try before buying one of those really expensive brushes just because others are getting it and raving about how awesome it is. Because honestly spending more doesn’t always mean your getting the best bang for your buck.

image-9

So thats my review of the AcneFree Advanced Cleansing Brush. Stop by a Target or a store near you and grab one to try. You’ll be glad you did.

eBay Synthetic Makeup Brush Set

20131017-154647.jpg

Hello lovers, I know I’ve been Mia but for good reason I promise lol. I will explain soon.

Anyway, I found this set online while browsing eBay one day looking for a new camera light. I was just looking up makeup brushes on some different sites but didn’t want to shell out another load of cash on new ones so I looked on eBay and wanted to see what I found. Once I got past all the MAC fakes and cheap thin brands I found these.

I watched a few YouTube reviews on different brush sets off eBay and saw that some were dupes for Sigma and one of my personal favorite brands Real Techniques brushes.

20131017-154716.jpg

20131017-154729.jpg

20131017-154741.jpg

I came across this set and loved the way they looked. They look almost exactly like sigma brushes. They had 3 different looks to choose from white and silver, black and silver and the set I choose black and gold. I’m a sucker for a bargain and when I saw they were only $15.88 with free shipping for a set of 8 (4 face and 4 eye brushes) I thought hmm why not try them out. If they suck no large amount lost and if they are great I found a new makeup brush source lol.

So I bought them and the shipping was pretty quick since they were coming from China. I ordered on the 5th and got them on the 16th of the month. So just shy of 2 weeks. Not bad China lol.

Packaging:

The packaging was great. Nice and snug so nothing could break or get damaged. Each brush was in its own wrapping and then all of them were in another package. Then covered with foam sheets and placed in bubble wrapped packaging.

20131017-155015.jpg

20131017-155036.jpg

Quality:

Right out of the package they were shiny and nice. The brushes were so soft on my skin both my face and hands. They are light and not heavy so they don’t weigh your hands down. No initial shedding. I spot cleaned them to prep them for use and 4 individual strands out of 8 brushes came out. So no heavy shedding or anything crazy like that.

Use:

After using them and doing an entire full face of makeup. There was no shedding, the bristles were soft and my makeup application was smooth. Everything was buffed and blended in well and my face had an airbrushed finish.

20131017-155202.jpg

All in all I give these brushes 2 thumbs up. Great quality and a great price. They look great in your brush kit both for personal and professional use. So if your looking for a bargain on a great set of brushes. Check these out. I hope your having a great week.
